Crowned with Glory: What God Says About Your Worth
A journey through unthought territories inspired by Psalms 8
When I read Psalm 8 this morning, the divine value of humanity came to mind.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.”
— Psalm 8:3–5 (NIV)
The moon. The stars. Galaxies beyond number.
With the naked eye, you can see about 5,000 stars. With a small telescope? Over 2 million. And with a 200-inch mirror at a great observatory, more than a billion. Astronomers estimate that, even traveling at the speed of light, it would take 40 billion years to reach the edge of the known universe.
He made all of that.
And yet… He is mindful of us.
The Longing to Be Seen
An earthly parent’s mindfulness is powerful. Just watch the next time a child plays and shouts, “Look, Dad! Look, Mom!”
Where does that come from? It’s not just attention-seeking — it’s a deep, eternal wiring. A desire to be seen, known, and delighted in.
But here’s the truth: that longing doesn’t end with our earthly mom or dad.
It continues, purposefully, with our heavenly Father, the Creator of the universe, who formed us with purpose and gave us Jesus.
David doesn’t hold back when it comes to speaking about human worth. Why? Because he relentlessly pursued and enjoyed what was most valuable — God Himself. And today, through David’s psalm, God reminds you of your worth.
You Were Designed on Purpose
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb… All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
— Psalm 139:13–16
God didn’t mass-produce you.
Think about how long it takes a grandmother to knit a blanket — every stitch intentional. Even more so, God lovingly knit you together. With design. With delight. With destiny.
Do you feel delighted in by Him?
If not, maybe you’ve mistaken the world’s verdict on your worth for God’s. But hang in there — because He redeems even the lies we’ve believed. That’s why you’re here. That’s why you’re reading.
You Were Set Apart Before You Were Seen
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.”
— Jeremiah 1:5
This verse was spoken specifically to the prophet Jeremiah. But because God's character is unchanging across Scripture, the truth of His foreknowledge and loving intention can be applied to all who are His (see Romans 8:29–30).
God didn’t wait until you accomplished something to love you.
He knew you — fully — before you were born. He set you apart before you had a name on earth.
Remember what He said to Jesus before His ministry began?
“This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17)
That’s the heart of our Father. And while earthly parents are meant to reflect this, many don’t. If you didn’t receive that kind of love, I understand why it might feel hard to receive it from God. But take heart — He sees you. He knows you. He loves you more intimately than anyone on earth ever could.
You Were Redeemed to Walk in Purpose
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
— Ephesians 2:10
You’re not just forgiven — you’re commissioned.
There are things no one else on earth can do quite like you. And God prepared them with your name on them.
“But I’m wiping tables… parking cars… failing tests… battling depression. How could I be commissioned?”
That’s real. But here's the truth: your circumstances don’t define your calling.
That failed test, the chaos, the antidepressants — they’re part of the path, not the destination.
You are clay in the Potter’s hands. The surrendered life — the one that trusts God and lets Him shape your identity — is a life filled with deep purpose.
You Are Called by Name
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.”
— Isaiah 43:1
Yes, originally spoken to Israel in exile. But God’s covenant love now extends to all who are in Christ. Through Jesus, you’ve been grafted into the family (Romans 11). He calls you by name, not by your pain, your past, or your performance.
He doesn’t want you to relate to Him as a dictator.
He wants you to know Him as Abba. Father.
Yes, He is King — but He’s also Dad.
You are His. He is yours.
What a family to be a part of!
You Are Royalty in the Kingdom
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession…”
— 1 Peter 2:9
You are not just saved — you are set apart.
You are chosen. Royal. Beloved. God’s special possession.
In a world constantly screaming at us to "do more" and "be more" to be accepted, God says something better:
“You’re already Mine.”
Before the galaxies were spread out in divine order…
He thought of you.
He formed you. He called you. He chose you.
You are His son.
You are His daughter.
You are His vessel — set apart to carry light into darkness.
And yes, that looks like real-world glory:
Peace in chaos.
Healing in despair.
Forgiveness in betrayal.
Provision in lack.
Resurrection where others declared death.
🔥 Never Finished Challenge: He Sees You
Write your own Psalm 8 moment. Go outside tonight. Look up. Ask, “God, who am I to You?” And let Him answer.
Speak life out loud. Read these verses daily for 7 days. Speak them over yourself. And if you’re a parent, speak them over your kids.
Live like you’re crowned. What would shift if you truly believed you were crowned with glory and honor?
You are not random.
You are not replaceable.
You are seen.
You are set apart.
You are supernaturally loved.
What does today say about God?
He is love.
There’s no other way to explain why He would choose a sinner like me to write these words. That’s not self-deprecation — that’s holy awe.
Scientists can’t find the edge of the universe.
And sometimes, I can’t find the words to express how much I love my daughters.
But like those scientists, I get closer when I include God in the equation.
And when I do, this is what comes out of my mouth:
“I love you. There is no one like you in the whole world. You are a daughter of the King of Kings.
There is nothing you could ever do to earn my love. I love you no matter what.”
I mean those words — with everything in me.
But only because He meant them to me first.
“We love because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19
What a Father.
What a King.
What a Creator of everything.
Thank You, Jesus.
